The Safe(r) and Effective Use of Self (SEUS) Toolkit provides guidelines on how and when to use self disclosures effectively. For the scope of this toolkit and our project, we define Self Disclosure as the process of communication by which a person shares information about their lived experiences with another person. This toolkit can be used by Peer Navigators, System Navigators, Counselors, and other frontline workers supporting survivors of gender-based violence and/or brain injury. The toolkit highlights the benefits and drawbacks associated with using self disclosures and provides recommendations around best practices.
